H1N1 Influenza (Flu)
The United States, Canada and Mexico continue to work together with international organizations in actively monitoring the H1N1 flu outbreak. For additional and latest information, please see the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website: www.cdc.gov [travel alerts].

Travel Alert for Mexico The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens of the health risks of travel to Mexico at this time due to an outbreak of H1N1 flu. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and all U.S. Consulates throughout the country have suspended all non-essential services to the public until May 6. Consular services for U.S. citizens will be limited to emergency assistance and citizenship applications (passports and consular reports of birth abroad). [more]

How to Reach Us

Location: 2, rue de la Terrasse-Dufferin behind the Hotel Chateau Frontenac, in the Vieux Quebec neighborhood of Quebec City.

Hours:
Mondays thru Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except American and Canadian holidays. American citizens are welcome to enter the Consulate during business hours. However, workload and staffing levels limit the time and personnel we can spontaneously allocate to non-emergency matters.

Emergency Services
For situations of a serious and unexpected nature, demanding immediate action. These situations being a child custody issue; the grave illness, injury, death, or the arrest of an American; or posing an imminent threat to U.S. lives, property, or interests. Dial 418-692-2095 and follow the prompts for Emergency Services, or appear in person. (Outside of business hours our guard will provide you with information and alert our Duty Officer.)

By appointment only. For non-emergency services, it is most effective for the applicant to first consult the information available on this website, or on the U.S. Embassy Consular website or on our automated phone system. After acquainting yourself with the general requirements, call to set an appointment or for assistance with any remaining issues. (Because of limited staffing, we will often have to arrange a call back time to handle detailed inquiries.) During our Public Information hours, Wednesday afternoons, 2 pm to 4 pm, staff will answer telephone or walk-in inquiries on a first-come-first served basis.
